Chris,

For your information I have used it on several occasions. If you want
more information, email me directly. I don't want to clutter the
precious newsgroup with SPAM that some squirrel-boy might not like.

Ken,

If she wanted information she could have emailed me and I would have
shown her where to find it.
I was not trying to SPAM anyone. I am sorry you took it as SPAM. If
you looked at the post, it was only sent to this group. It was not
cross-posted. I was trying to get the news out about this product.
Yes, I am selling this product. I probably should have made the
message shorter.

I apologize for the squirrel-boy and "precious" comments.

It was Usenet newsgroup SPAM and we just don't allow it. If
fly fishing/outdoor products marketers find a captive group
of those folks most likely to buy their products they will
flood this forum with advertisements. That's just the nature
of the beast.

Take your bug dope advertisement and construct a four-line
sig that you can attach to all your on-topic and pro-Kerry
contributions to this forum and you'll be doin' alright. ;-)

I will work on the sig though. Thanks for the input.

It doesn't matter, Dustin. Any *commercial* sales in NGs that are not
specifically designed for that purpose are frowned up on.

Cyli didn't want info, she was admonishing you. Cyli is ROFF's elected

Yes, DEET works, but so did DDT. Do you want to bring that puppy back?
If you never try anything else, how would you know what works?

DDT is not and has never been a mosquito (or any other bug) repellent.

DDT *IS*....not *was*....an extraordinarily useful insecticide whose
efficacy as a first line weapon against Anopheles mosquitoes (the vectors of
malaria) has never been equaled by anything else.

"...a worldwide ban on DDT would be a severe loss for public health workers
because the pesticide has properties that render it an invaluable tool
against malaria. When used for this purpose, it is applied close to where
people sleep, on the inside walls of houses. After biting, the mosquitoes
generally fly to the nearest vertical surface and remain standing there for
about an hour, anus down, while they drain the water from their gut contents
and excrete it in a copious, pink-tinged stream. If the surfaces the
mosquitoes repair to are coated by a poison that is soluble in the wax that
covers all insect bodies, the mosquitoes will acquire a lethal dose.
No chemical compares to DDT as a weapon against the resting mosquito.
First, it is potent. Just two grams of DDT per square meter of wall surface
is more than enough to kill a mosquito within its usual one-hour resting
period. Second, it is inexpensive. It is also easily stored and
transported, and relatively safe for the person doing the spraying. Best of
all, it remains effective for many, many months." (1)

Get a couple hundred cases of malaria cropping up in the U.S. and you'll see
DDT back so fast it'll make your head spin faster than it already does.
Meanwhile, your snake oil is useless. DEET is marginally less so.

I think he meant me. Part of my sig file is "Speaker to Squirrels".
Considering he said, "boy" as part of it, it shows he's not read this

Therefore, he's really silly to SPAM us. As well as too cheap and too

Googled it up. You're correct in that.

However, the page and the 'information' gives a lot more ammunition to
detractors.

Just as an example, how much of that 'extensive testing' was double
blind by an outside agency? Or even without double blind by an
outside agency? What, exactly is in the 'essential oils' and the
'natural oils' used to dilute them? The aromatherapy group would have
your neck for that one. There are some essential oils that even in
the dilution you indicate aren't great to be around. And many more
that are utterly useless.

And if you tell me to ask you in email, I'll quote you to yourself, as
you said in a baseball group to someone who dared put in something OT,
"Get lost, loser." Only you had it in caps. I can't see bothering
with them.
