The Bush administration took what could be a first step Wednesday toward
removing federal protections for a small seabird that has stood in the way
of Northwest logging.
Dammed Marbled Murrelets it they were real seabirds they'd nest on rocks
not trees, especially trees 40 mile from the beach.

I tried to access the site, but they asked for personal information. Oh
well, it hardly matters. If history is any teacher, the birds are doomed.
Americans don't care......they will no more miss the Murrelets than they do
the once abundant penguins.

These birds find a tree 40 or so miles from the seashore and lay there egg
on top of a limb, no nest. Takes a fair sized tree limb for that. . When
the egg hatches they fly back and forth over 40 miles of trees bringing
junior food. There few trees that big left and most are in the middle of
primo steelhead / salmon country.

The lyrics have changed a bit, but it's the same old tune we've been hearing
for centuries. Substitute "Carolina Parakeet", "Passenger Pigeon", "Great
Auk", "Heath Hen", or "Ivory-Billed Woodpecker" for "Marbled Murrelet" and
no one will need to write the rest of the story........it's already been
printed.

Just payback to the shooting sports guys who voiced their support at
his ranch last month. Unless you're saying Kerry wouldn't have
continued the CRP.
