Not since I learned to stick shift have I had such a problem with
coordination. Between now and death, I will eventually get it, but
meanwhile is there any hint on how to make the klutz in my double haul
cast go away? Just asking...TIA

Try http://www.flyfisherman.com/skills/lkdoublehaul/

There was also a nice article by McCauley Lord (sp?) of LL Bean in one of
the popular FF mags within the last 6 months or so as I recall. Don't have a
copy here at work; if no one posts the issue, I'll do so tomorrow.

See if you can't find a group lesson with Simon Gawesworth of Rio Products.
He travels the US gives a great 2 day lesson.

If you can cast normally, or if you can normally cast - even if somewhat
abnormally - then it's probably a mater of timing.

Forget the haul part. Just give the line hand a little downward flick of the
wrist (as if shaking water off when the gas station is out of paper towels)
during your power stroke and see what that does. Chances are it will be
sufficient to dramatically increase your line speed and and give you a sense
of timing if you want to use the whole arm later...

....worked for me...
