What are the possibilities on the upper coast of Oregon?

I'll be spending some time in the Seaside to Tillamook area in mid-September
and have never been down that way before...

Anyone care to share some spots to try with a 100% C&R, usually dry flies
only, kinda guy?

Any advice will be appreciated, and likely heeded.

Thanks
Skwala

Okay - here's something that should prove helpful: your computer clock
is 24 hours off.

I was in the Tillamook area a few week ago and returning this weekend,
to the Tillamook County park (Kilchis Recreation Area). An extremely
well maintained campground with great access to the Kilchis River.
Contact: John Begin 503-322-3522, for weather and reservations, although
you certainly won't need one, and you can of course just show up. Can't
say enough nice things about John or the area, which is very close to
the ocean. For more info: www.co.tillamook.or.us/gov/parks

The park is open (as is the c&r fishing) into October.

Assuming you are talking about trout. The entire NW coastal region of
Oregon is C&R only. They've been slowly moving the keep line north, but
as of right now you'd have to go down to just north of Lincoln City to
keep a trout on the coast.

Near Tillamook, try the Wilson or Trask. The Wilson has been doing
pretty well lately. I haven't been out on the Trask lately.
Near Seaside, try the Nehalem or Nestucca.

All have very good access off highways 6 or 8.

I've heard of the Wilson and the Trask... any of the above have sea run

Or are the populations stressed like in Washington?

Thanks

Both seem to have a good population of sea runs. You can check the
ODFW fishing reports close to when you are down here. It's been
a couple weeks since I was out, but fishing was good back in August.

Hi Skwala,

You have mostly coastal streams with Sea-run Cutthroat trout, Steelhead and
Silver salmon this time of year.

You might enjoy hunting the Cutthroats in the little rivers. They should be
near the top of the tide water right now?

Not too many trout streams in western side of Oregon.

You could email or call Kauffmann's Fly Shop in Tigard, Oregon (near
Portland).
