View Full Version : New ROFF stats

I don't remember who was the one who pointed out the location of these
cool stats earlier this year, but I think they've been updated since
then:
http://tinyurl.com/4yhty
And I even made the top 40 list! :-D
I do urge you to be somewhat sceptical of some of the indicators they
use - after all, it _is_ Microsoft Research. Why don't they for
example compute average Replies/Thread instead of just the number of
replies when considering "Interactivity" (the latter depends heavily
on the total number of messages)?

I tried this link, and it didn't go through. Regardless, I suspect
your complaint is an indication of it's better side as well. In my
experience with development, you could always tell the program you'd
distributed was junk if nobody made any requests to change it. As for
statistics, it's absolutely impossible to present a view of the
information that satisfys all curiosities. SOunds like MS did well
enough this time.

For instance, don't believe I really post to 98 groups (or whatever it said)
as MS counts every freakin' cross-posted group as a hit....

That means you have no life. If you make number 1, you have no life, enjoy
reading your own drivel, and throw wicked awesome tailing loops.
