Just picked it up at a bookstore in Johannesburg, and I'm excited! Can't wait
to try some of the flies out...I really like the way they give just enough
explanation to show you what you have to know, without all the details that
total newbies need. Also, the large pictures of the finished flies along
with the short narrative of what they are supposed to represent (along with
a description of any 'special features', like how the antron is supposed to
look like little air bubbles so don't overtighten the wrapping, for
example).

Even without my tying kit, I've read the book cover to cover (100 different
flies) and its exactly what I've been looking for.

Anyone else have it, used it? What do you think?

Peter Gathercole is well known in the UK primarily as a photographer -
he has photos in Trout Fisherman magazine. He is also well know as a
fly-tier and of course photographs his work.

It has been in my libray for quite awhile now and I enjoy it.

Got any others that you consider on par? I tied up a few flies from The
FTBible on Tuesday, and was very satisfied with the level of instruction and
the range of flies he outlines. It seems like he focuses on 100 flies that
use a lot of similar materials, also, so if you have a certain handful of
materials, you can tie a lot of different options.
