I realize differnet conditions can determine what colors to use. But,
overall, if you could have only one color for your tubes and jig 'n pig,
what color would it be?

I am not an avid jig fisherman, but I have had some luck with two colors. I
used a white and black jack to get some reaction strikes when throwing back
to followers. I actually prefer a Senko for this type of tactic, but the
jig was handy when I tried it.

As to just flipping and dragging, I have caught some nice fish on a black
and blue jig with a plum, almost purple craw trailer.

A recent survey over in the Bass Pro Shops forum showed black and blue as
the most common jig color followed by brown and orange I think.

If I could have only one color for any lure it would be some combination of
black and chartruse. Red shad is probably my second favorite color pattern.
However, on sunny days in clear water, I preferr more natural colors.

Black jigs.

Green pumpkin first choice for most anything plastic.

Big fat black tubes w/red flakes. I've been rigging fat tubes with a bullitt
weight & a extra wide gap (EWG) 2/0 or 3/0 hook. I push the debarbed hook &
compleatly through the tube & let it lie on on the surface of the tube. If
weeds are a problem I then prick the hook point into the plastic, ever so
lightly . I fish a shllow rocky river & I hang up less & land more
smallmouth's. I don't use weighted hooks anymore for tube fishing. I use the
same rig for worm fishing & the same hook on plastic jerk baits, (Zoom
Fluke).
As for jig 'n pig I'd use black or black/blue. I havent found a way to use
a jig 'n pig barbless as the smallies will toss the jig back at you . I
pinch the barb down but not compleatly. But most of my jigging is done with
barbless tubes.

For jig&pig, I'm split between black/blue and black/brown/orange (clear
water, hard cover, no shad available).

Green Pumpkin can't be wrong!

It works everywhere a bass swims.

There are no axioms in fishing. But if there were, this would be one of
them.

Watermellon for tubes & black & blue for jig & pig

We have a pattern in our original series that mated green pumpkin on top
with a subtle chartreuse pattern called "chartreuse with blue glimmer" on
the bottom. We called the lure the Grass Craw, and it was a great producer
but a poor seller because it was not real flashy (what craw is?). Rigged
with double willowleaf blades and retrieved thru grass near the bottom, it
was a killer. We do not plan to make it in large quantities for dealers, but
it probably will be available again soon as an internet-only model.

I fogot to add that we have two other "sister" craw models that use the
regular (orangish-dark brown) pumpkin. One, the Wood Craw, uses the regular
pumpkin with the chartreuse with blue glimmer color. It is perfect fished
around the base of wood. The third model, the Rock Craw, uses 25% dull
orange in the tail instead of the 50% dull chartreuse bottom. It has
produced some real hog smallies while being slow-rolled along rocky bottoms
with single gold blades.

These two models also greatly resemble crawfish, and will also probably be
re-introduced on the internet. Both pumpkin colors, green and regular, work
great wherever used, regardless the lure type.

That was one of my favorites! Also green pumpkin with a few strands of gold
on the bottom. Not sure where I got that one. May have made it myself.
