Howdy from Montana,
This morning it was announced that congress is going to drop the mining
bill that would have allowed the purchase of public lands for mining.
They have received so much negative feedback that they decided to
rethink it. So places like Rock Creek, and the Jefferson River just to
name a few have gotten a reprieve. Now this could show up in another
bill or be attached as a rider to bill but for now it has been shelved.
If you check the Wilderness Society's home page they have a good
section on the bills being introduced in Congress.
