2 Bamboo rods & some Old $hit

I managed to acquire (long story) two bambo rods each I known to be at
least 60+ years old. One does have a bit of a set to it but the other
is like Olive Oil. There are no markings on either rod as to who the
builder is nor the seller (manufacturer). On rod comes with a wooden
cradle type thing with metal caps at each end. The cradle is sorta
like a 1 1/2 inch dowel hollowed out to accept the various sized
sections. The other came in a metal tube. Both are four pieced rods
with the 4th being and extra tip section. Both come in an oil-cloth
type , 4 sectioned cloth sock. Unfortunately, both grips have been
refurbished (cleaned) but not replaced. I fished the 2nd rod, the one
with the set, but not the other and with my skill set, am not able to
give a report as to the estetics of the rod(s). Does anyone have a
clue as to how to line it, find the manufacturer, value? I've had
them for 20 plus years myself and they aint taken up room so I'm not
looking to unload them unless someone tells me they're second only to
the crown jewels!... If I do make it to the NC Clave, I'll bring them
on down for youse guys to look at. (ex-NY'er) Oh, I also inherited
from an old neighbor, a pair of steel flyrods and two martin
automatics. Both in working shape. If anyone wants to see em, I'll
bring um. Lastly, 20 years ago i dabbled in tying and the instructor
gave me what he called "a patch almost as rare as jungle cock" It was
a patch of the belly of polar bear. I guess the urine stain in the
hairs give it a luminescence (da brews be kickin in) that's hard to
duplicate. Any truth to this? Well.. take care ya'll .. Bill in Va.

1. There is a company in Utah that specializes in bamboo and other antique
rods. A google search would probably turn them up. You would probably have
to send them to them to get a definitive answer. However if they have no
labels, they are mostly likely not worth much. There are thousands of
bamboo rods floating around.
2. All polar bear hair has luminescence. Thath is why it is desired by fly
tyers. You are not supposed to have it unless you can prove that it came
from a bear killed before a certain date, or that it is a peice of art.
Probably best not to advertise it. The fines are serious if they want to
get after you. Owning polar bear hair in Canada is not illegal, carrying it
across the border is.
