Hey

I was down trying to catch a few herring with my father for bait when
we get out into the Hudson River. We didn't have much luck. He was
casting a lure out while I was squatting underneath him with a net,
attempting to catch the herring as they followed the lure. We caught
one fish. As we were about to leave, a man showed up on the other side
of the creek and placed a large, square net into the water,
approximately 3'x3'. All four corners of the square had a peice of
string attatched to them, which brought the to one point. Connected to
this was long pole. He put the net down in the water and used a fish
as a lure. He was cathing the herring three or four at a time. We
checked the local fishing stores but came up empty handed. Anyone know
where we can get one of these?

Thanks

Kevin

He was probable using a minnow umbrella net. The four corners connect
to a umbrella type device that you can tie a rope or pole to for lifting
out of the water. Cabela's and BassPro shop both carry these.
