From some of the kwan recipes (and pictures) I've seen, the fly's body
is sort of the same as the Merkin. That is it is flat and crab like.
My question is, can I make the body more body-like (rounded oval rather
than flat)? I plan on using the fly for reds in the Gulf off Texas.
Thanks,
Adam

I guess you could try spinning the body with deer hair instead and trim it
to the shape you like. Might
require heavier eyes though.

I'm not a good deerhair spinner. I usually use Aunt Lydias yarn to make
my merkins and was figuring on doing the same for the Kwan. One of the
recipes used AL yarn, but trimmed is flat like the merkin.
