Florida flats fishing help

I recently relocated to Miami and am interested in flats fishing. I was
wondering if anyone could give me any information as to what mile markers
might be a good place to stop and go flats fishing on foot (wading in). I
would like to try it this way before I invest an a flats boats. Come to
think of it does anyone have any suggestion as to modified v-hull that would
work on the flats as well as the open ocean say for loke dolphin that would
be around a twenty three footer. Also any ideas on baits for the flats,
artificials, dead, or live.

Of course any site that has been published in a book or magazine is not
likely to be a secret honey hole and a wise angler would never share
those if they expected them to remain 'secret' so it will take a little
self exploration. However, there are many wadable areas along the string
of keys and many are in fact a good potential for fish.

As for a boat, I personally do not think you will find a single boat to
meet both of your expectations. In fact, one flats boat may be better or
worse at a particular task. You will probably not find a boat with the
ride, dry ride, range needed for near shore fishing that will also allow
stealthy fishing in the shallows and allow you to move it easily with a
pole to sneak up on wary fish.

But, one idea is to get a bay boat that will allow the near shore
fishing capability and add a sit on top kayak to carry to the flats and
take into the shallow flats for stealth and really as a wading station
where the bottom is firm enough.
