Looks like albacore may take off in Ireland following the recent years
development of a bluefin fishery. Up to now the only albacore caught were
quite small but a new record for Ireland was caught last September. The fish
was just a shade under 36.75lbs (16.66 kg).

There's a pic of that albacore here http://www.cfb.ie
Just the one unfortunately. He was using fairly heavy gear to get the fish
in by the look of the rod and reel.

BTW the blue fishery is a voluntary catch and release thing, and as such is
open to abuse...
The good news is some anglers are co-operating with one of the USA led
tagging programmes where the pop-up satellite tags are attached to the fish
prior to release.
