I think from what I have read and how it has changed over the years that
the lack of posts may be partly due to the misuse of the group. However,
I think a bigger factor is the growth of web based forums. These are
more conducive to finding information you need or want since they are
broken into sub-topics and searchable. I have participated in many along
with the news groups and have recently made many more posts in the web
forums.

Add to that the address harvesting and spam related to posting; you can
not ever post a valid email address if you can not afford to be
bombarded with spam.

I still check the groups as I have for over 10 years. I find some good
information but it is not what it was when it was the primary way to get
information and post questions to a global audience.

Fishing is always slow this time of year. Now is the time to do some
work on the boat and maybe even fix a few things around the house.

Government fishing closures, and frequent and illogical rule changes
here in Southern California make fishing a sport for lawyers.

I can't blame people who just lose interest and give up.

Regards,
Cliff

Not slow in Louisiana where we can fish year round.

The specks and reds are biting in the marsh and the tuna is biting offshore.
