I am giving this water a go next week can any one offer me any advice as to
methods and wear to fish?I will mainly be after Carp/Tench.
What weigths do the fish go up to in there?

Forget Shearwater try the middle lake at Longleat, just up the road. Bream
to 4lb, Carp into Double figures and some nice Tench. Method feeder and
sweetcorn on a size 8. My lad and I fished their in August and had just
under 200lb in 3 days.

However if you are determined to fish Shearwater, then drive over the dam
and there in the bay (just past the boat club) there is a shallow stretch of
water that is often teaming with Carp into the low doubles.

Alternativeley on your right hand side of the dam as you are crossing there
is Little Shearwater that is often overlooked. Tench and Carp are in good
numbers here as well. including a good size pike that has a taste for
luncheon meat.

The best fishing I have heard though, is at the opposite end to the Dam on
the roadside. Never fished here but reports are good.

Good luck

Martin

PS Would be interested to hear how you get on.
