View Full Version : Diawa Spinning Reels/ Concern

A while back I took a group member's advice and purchased Diawa Capricorn
Spinning reels. They're great. I've learned to fish a spinning reel without
a trigger and they are smooth as can be . . . but . . . you know that
little knob on the right hand side you can unscrew and switch the handle to
that side? It keeps comming loose. I notice this is the same prob I used to
have with Diawa baitcasters. It's not just one reel, its all five I
purchased too. Anyone else have this prob ? and anyone have any ideas to
solve. Would it hurt if I put some nail polish or something in there to stop
it from happening. Any ideas or recommendations appreciated. As ususal,
thanks guys/ gals.

Loc-Tite will work. Or, you can try a small piece of teflon tape on the
screw to give it a little more bite.

Same thing happens with my Regal-Zs, I've just learned to accept it and
check the knob from time to time. Small price to pay for otherwise excellent
reels.

Not sure I'd use the Loctite! But the Teflon tape would do the trick :o)

Purple Loc-Tite. Blue or red would be too strong and you might never get it
apart with your fingers in the future.

I bought the Cabela Prodigy (same reel, more bearings, lighter, a few
dollars more). No problems with it. I love it. I would use the teflon tape
also.
