Cork Small Boats Festival 2003.

29th September to 2nd October



Twenty Five boats fished the Festival this year. Twenty one of these
travelled from the UK. The competition was divided into a three day species
hunt and one day specimen hunt.



The weather on Monday allowed unrestricted angling for all boats. Most
travelled outside Cork Harbour. Fishing was good with Twelve species being
the best of the day.

Day two dawned with a good forecast and again boats had unrestricted
fishing. Fifteen species was the highest for the day. The top boats topped
up their species tally by up to eight.

Day three's weather was more inclement with boats being restricted to Cork
Harbour. The top boats managed to top up by as many as five species on the
day.

The overall prize was awarded to UPTIDE GIRL with twenty one species The
next three places were decided by weight.



Twenty nine species were caught during the competition including some fine
Cod, Plaice, Ray and Haddock as well as the more usual Conger, Ling and
Pollack. A new species was added to the competition list namely a Gilthead
of 2.35lb.



The competition will take place again next year however boat numbers will
have to be limited.
