Hi

This is probably stupid and I have probably missed something completely
obvious, but I can`t identify this fish :(
I caught it at about 3.30pm 10/02/04 in Belfast Lough and a couple more, all
released unharmed.
1 1/2lb - 4lb range, this is the only picture I got and it turned out very
badly.

I have only started sea fishing last year, so forgive me for being a
complete newbie :)

Thanks

The adipoise fin (the little rounded one just in front of the tail fin)
should tell you it is a salmoniod.
I hope you ate it. Probably a sea trout, maybe a grilse. Bit out of
condition, thin ! Oh, It has its mouth open so is probably female. (no kype
LOL)

Looks like a sea trout although a bit thin.

Thank you all for helping me :)
After further investigation I am pretty sure that it is a grilse. Something
I wasn`t expecting at all.
That day I caught 3 of them, 1 1/2lbs, 2 lbs and about 4 lbs.
They were caught on a 2 hook flapper rig with size 1 kamasan hooks baited
with makerel and squid.
The location was just outside a small town called Holywood.

Thanks again

No it's a trout all right. Rather our of condition though.

Of course one of the others might have been a grilse.

Cheerio,
