View Full Version : New stuff on my trout site :) Movie of caddis larvae fighting!

I've been spending all my time lately making improvements/additions to
my fishing website. I figured out a way to use the "levels" controls
in photoshop to vastly improve the color fidelity on all my pictures,
so I went through and edited all zillion of them and the colors on the
screen look just like the real thing now.

My new pride and joy is the movie I got of two big caddisfly larvae
fighting each other over a case... link to it is here:

I added a little quiz to see how well people know their aquatic bug
life, too. I'd really like some feedback on this one, if people would
like more of that sort of thing or not.

And I've added pictures of 75 new critters--the new pics are all
summarized on the main page at http://www.troutnut.com along with
various other little odds and ends I've added.

As always I'd appreciate any feedback, constructive criticism, ideas
for new features, etc.

Thanks!

The fighting caddis had more going for it than most WWE wrestling
matches. :)

Nice work.

A few top posted comments:

As somebody who has very poor vision, I would make my usual plea to try
viewing your site with other than the default font size. In IE, go to
View/Text Size and set it to Largest. Your site has a lot of font size
dependencies. You'll be amazed at how bad it scales (particularly the front
page). Generally, I would leave immediately because there are so many text
areas overwritten.

Second, the menu box is missing on Firefox 0.8 (Mozilla). It looks fine in
IE6.

Also, the caddis fight movie has the wrong text on the link.

Nice content.
