Is there any point in fishing for pike (with lures) when the river is up,
coloured and flowing fast?

I was going to go fishing today but the sluice must be open upstream 'cos
the river is up by about a foot and flowing fast.
Its also the colour of milky coffee......

would there be any point fishing it?

I guess that any pike will be out of the main flow...?

If it's pushing hard then fish will be forced off their usual haunts and
concentrated in areas of slack water. The slacks may move around as the
water pressure changes.

Pike will follow their food. Expect to find them on the edges of the flow
where any temporarily off-balance fish is easy prey.

Yes, they will take lures in flood conditions but you'll need to fish slowly
as they will be following the vibrations and not their eyes.

Cheerio,
