Do you mean the dried variety or the ones in cans?

I soak mine for 24 hours, adding and colour or flavour you like e.g. 1/2 tsp
nutrabaits red colouring and 3ml scopex per lb dry weight. add twice as much
water as peas. You will need to keep an eye on the water level as the dry
peas soak up loads.
after 24hrs boil for 5 min then simmer for 15min. Once cooled they are
ready for use.
I usually make up 10lb at a time and freeze in 1lb bags.

the chick peas you buy in cans don't need and preparation. If you look at
the ingredients on the side of the can you will see that most are kept in
brine. If you find any that are kept in syrup, these are a much better bait.
