It requires boiling in water for at least 90 mins (it stinks too!)
You can use the water for groundbait, paste etc as it has a lot of hempseed oil
in it.

Or, you can buy it ready out of the tin or tub from tackle shops, such as
Hinders of Swindon, if you are lazy like me!

Phil L is a regular contributor here and has much to offer <regular good
guy>.

However, I too thought it should be soaked. Phil can you qualify your
advice mate?

get an old flask 1/2 fill it with hemp then 3/4 fill with boiling water.
the next day perfect hemp, drain off the water
( you can save this for your ground bait).

Soak for 24 hours with a little salt and if you want add a flavour (I add a
little betaine)
Boil until it splits using the same water.
Let it stand for a few days (up to you how long) Then drain and use the
liquid for groundbait.

I never soak mine, but i will do in future if it cuts down on the boiling time,
however after boiling for an hour and half all the seeds are split and the white
kernels are poking through - it can be done in a microwave to cut this down to
about 45 mins on medium low.
