OT - Havesting Email Addys

I haven't a clue who's harvesting our email addresses, but I wish I
knew, how they knew, that I need a Penis Enlargement. I'm getting
about 4 -5 of these a day and it's starting to give me a complex.

For what it's worth, I've been getting more spam since I stuck a "REMOVE"
into my e-mail address. Go figure.

Never - ever - respond with the "REMOVE" option. It only proves to the
spammer that they have a real live address, and makes it all the more
valuable to sell to other spammers.

I don't know about putting 'REMOVE' in your address, but I've gotten a
lot less spam by actually using the 'remove' link.
As far as proving to the spammer your address is real, if the original
message they send to you doesn't bounce back, that is all the proof they
need that you are
'real' whether you respond or not. Just what works for me....

Jim, maybe I wasn't clear enough. I don't respond to spammers. I put
"REMOVE" into my e-mail address as in:



And it seems I'm getting more spam since I did that and I did that because I
thought it was supposed to thwart those automated address harvesters, or
whatever they're called.

Thanks for that tip Eric. Getting off on a tangent, I see the government is
going ahead with "do not spam" registries. I think I'd be scared to sign up,
it gives the spammers a nice list of addresses. That works with
telemarketing, they're altar boys compared to spammers.

600? Ouch. I guess businesses sharing mailing lists is not anything new. But
legitimate businesses sharing addresses with spammers who want to sell me
Viagra or enlarge my thingy? That's pretty disgusting, but it's hard to
believe a legit business would share addresses with those scumbags. There
must be something I'm missing here.

your name to someone who SPAMS you with an Anti SPAM product? Sound
familiar? Anyone?

Sadly, that sounds really familiar... I wish they didn't have my personal
email. Only spam I've gotten in that email account since it was created!
And I've requested to be removed from his email list twice now, and still
received more email. What a hypocrite...better be careful or he'll create a
website slandering one of us...
