Isn't he really a piano-forte player?

A wise man will exercise a bit of discretion in what he admits to:

"Nothing soothes me more after a long and maddening course of pianoforte
recitals than to sit and have my teeth drilled." -- G. B. Shaw

I first read that as "Lacourse". I've been called Lacrosse many times
but never twice by the same person.

Wow.

Thank you for your thoughts, everyone. I think I have learned that a)
mono leaders are basically the same in terms of memory, b) the
friction from my fingers should be enough to straighten them, at least
down at the thinner ends, and c) there are varying opinions on both
leader brands and solutions for carrying and/or storing your leaders.

Thanks again to everyone who posted!

Tim

PS - Oh, and I forgot to add c) you are all totally insane.

Well, not in person. What you are seeing is an internet persona, a
sort of made up macho thingy.

You are learning, lad.

About the fly wallet: remember that if it can get wet, it will, and
if it soaks up water (cloth) or holds water (leather/vinyl) it will.
Best to just store your leader in a high pocket of your vest.

Jeff, I believe there are two fawn lakes. I know you found one that
was nowhere near the description that Fortenberry gave, but I have
heard of another one which is exactly as he described it.
