One of my kids spied the page in the Cabelas general catalog, then
Blinky shows up under the Christmas tree. Blinky is now somewhere in
the garage with the Budwiser beer can lure.

Dangerous, that. God knows what a hybrid might look like, but I'm

What I've often suggested is that Godzilla is equated with the
individual soldiers of the occupation forces. The atom brought him to
Japan. He's big and clumsy (bigger and clumsier than the real US
soldiers, but that's what metaphor is for, right?). He wreaks
destruction wherever he goes because he doesn't know what he's doing.
He has no idea that what he's destroying is a civilization. He can't
see what he's stepping on. He gets annoyed and dangerous when the
Japanese try to protect themselves. However, he'll not willingly hurt
a woman and he's exceptionally nice to small children. If he notices
them. The Japanese police and military are of no use against him.
Finally the scientists and technicians get their day and are at least
semi-successful. They make him retreat (future promise of the time,
which sort of came true?). Oh, yeah, and all the politicians run away
or cower or are too stupid or scared to do anything.

That's it. Badly written, but worthy of a 20,000 word thesis in the
right hands. Goferit, someone? Credit in a footnote not required,
but would be appreciated. Maybe it'd already have been done if it
hadn't been business and hard science types I tried to give the idea
to.
