Is that the one where cattle rustlers set up a Henry rifle on a tripod, shoot cattle,
cut them up with a chainsaw, and speed away?

Mark

That's the one. W/Jeff Bridges, Sam Waterston & Slim Pickens.

obROFF: The script was written by Thomas McGuane, and
the soundtrack was by Jimmy Buffett, both flyfishers, and
was filmed in Livingston, MT, and Paradise Valley back in
the 70's before the place became chic.

Missed that on the first post. It was a 50 cal Sharps Buffalo rifle.

As was Pickens. He appeared in a show in the 70's fishing with a fellow from
back east who had no idea how to fish for western trout. He caught nothing but
Pickens, seemingly doing everything wrong was catching trout at will and
needling the poor fellow at every opportunity, always with that long drawl and
the smile ready to break at any second.
Pickens was at his best just being Pickens.

No one mentioned "Escanaba in da Moonlight" it's got a more than scary
resemblence to a clave.

I've never seen the movie, but I HAVE seen Escanaba in da moonlight. As a
matter of fact, your mention of it inspired me rummage through some old
family photographs. Comparing them to what I saw when Jeff and I drove
through back in June, I see that the place looks about the same as it did
fifty years ago.

Wolfgang
it's nice to know that some things don't change......well, not much anyway.
