BTW, Iris Dement grew up in southern California. I like her work. My
favorites are Let the Mystery Be, and her protest song, Wasteland of the
Free.

I put her in the "whiny bitch" category of country music. I like that
genre. Laura Cantrell is one of my favorites.

ohgoddd...that's "hilarious". thanks for putting a smile on an otherwise
grim night. i'm currently in a thurber war zone...

but, iris' whine suits me just fine, and alison can whimper on my
shoulder anytime. still that oscar/cold mountain performance was a bit
wrenching, even for this fan.
