"Jeff Miller" wrote in message news:zu%Hf.3343$Nq1.2337@dukeread11... for a while now, i've been buying a "fair trade certified" 12 oz. bag of whole bean roast by the organic coffee company, an outfit from san leandro, california. costs about 7 bucks. i get it from a local upscale grocery store. i like their espresso roast best, but the supplier here has stopped carrying it, so i make do with the french roast. pretty good stuff. i've bought the jamaican blue mountain once. had to order it through an importer...5 of us combined funds to buy the minimum purchase allowed at @ $125, then divided the beans. i was disappointed, though it was still good. just not the delicious coffee i remember tasting during my visits to jamaica. i'm too lazy to buy green and do my own roasting, but that's probably the method of insuring the best taste, eh? Hmm, I don't know. I kind of remember reading once that roasting beans is slightly technical, and that's where the flavor comes out. If you do it wrong (which might be easy to do), you could ruin it pretty badly I think. I prefer to let them who know what they are doing do the roasting, and I'll just pay at the counter. If you try it, let us know how it goes.. --riverman |

I got out of my Bivy adjusted my eyes only to find this guy shaving with a battery powered electric shaver. Now when I backpack I love to get as far away from society as possible. -tom Ok, now I'm comin' up to speed, on this back-country campin' stuff! You and I need to get together Tom. I ain't much of a hiker--to fat and out of shape--but I sure as hell won't be bringin' no battery powered shaver, muchless a Gillett "Fusion!" Hell, the guyz at work ask why I only shave one side of my face at a time. Op --workin' the right-side this month-- I'm getting up there in age too, not exactly a spring chicken anymore as my wife would say nearing our 25th anniv the end of March. You know you're getting old when you don't recognize the guy in the mirror. -tom |
