it's the vernal equinox...

and, what are your fishing plans this year? or will you be ivory-towering
it through the season?

jeff

I keeps tellin' ya, it's got nothing to do with the vernal equinox, it's all
about them damn infernal equivocators.

It's a bit early for me to be planning just yet. I still have two final
exam, one research paper, and a project to complete for classes.
Unfortunately, I have to use valuable vacation and sick leave to complete
assignments. I'll know better toward the middle of April. If I can't do our
usual thing with you out in Graham County, I would like to try doing Penns.
Bear says either is fine by him, so long as I get off my ass and take him
fishin'!!!!

Op FYI In some parts of the country those are fighten words. And on
this NG there are folk and some of their kids and partners who have
reason to parse T____ as racist, or at least hurtful. Not equivilent
to the "N" word but hostile. Just a suggestion partner. I know you
would not want to hurt folks you don't even know. I make this
suggestion as someone who isn't always as careful as I should be
either.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will call for increased
oversight of executive pay at all banks, Wall Street firms and
possibly
other companies as part of a sweeping plan to overhaul financial
regulation,
government officials said.

The outlines of the plan are expected to be unveiled this week in
preparation
for President Obama’s first foreign summit meeting in early April.

what a friggin moron....

----------- dumb **** snip --------------------

For a man known as a great communicator, President Barack
Obama can put his foot in his mouth from time to time.

Although often deliberate and meticulous in his speaking style,
Obama can also be prone to gaffes when he is relaxed or trying
to have fun.

Keenly aware of the stage, the coolly confident Obama can drift
into trouble during unscripted moments.

The 'Rule of 72' can be use to calculate the doubling of prices. You
simply take the rate of inflation, say 6% and divide it into 72 and
you come up with 12. Thus it takes 12 years for prices to double if
the inflation rate is 72. You can see why it would be in the
government's interest to hide the true rate of inflation. This allows
Congress to live as a class of lords while the public is impoverished.
For example has anyone noticed how college tuition has actually
doubled, on average, since the year 2000? Thus college education costs
are actually subject to a 8% (72/8 =9 years) inflation rate, not the
much ballhyhooed rate of 2 or 3%. The Washington Post ran an article
about 5 years ago which explained how prices are determined and it
became obvious to me that using their methodology price increases
could indeed be fudged with a little statistical magic by the magi.
Once the trillions in electronic bail-out money are eventually
converted into paper dollars and spent-which will happen-few people
with large sums of money will be content to watch their paper savings
disappear into an inflationary cloud of smoke-you can use the 'Rule of
72' to figure out what is really going on. Those with money will seek
to purchase either goods or inflation hedges such as gold and silver
while those without money will struggle even harder just to survive.
(Remember Ben Bernanke made a vow that deflation will not happen on
his watch.) So now knowing that inflation is heavily understated, you
can see what will happen if the real rate of inflation is running at a
rate of 15% in the future. You will know that prices will actually
double in 72/15 or a little less than 5 years. The government will go
to great lengths to make sure that you do not really understand the
implications of inflation nor its causes as the real cause of
inflation is the Federal Reserve and the Congress spending more money
tha than they have available. The final outcome of Congressional
spending at some point will be totalitarian socialism as elucidated by
Ludwig von Mises. All these new surveillance and spying on the public
laws, all the increased concentration of economic power in Washington,
the passing of legislation with no debate etc... are not isolated
events. The country is ever so steadily heading towards socialistic
totalitariansim. I keep hearing the term socialism being bandied
around on the financial news with some saying it would not be so bad.
Do not believe that. The truth is we are only in this economic mess
because of socialistic and protectionist policies that have been
adopted in virtually every industry of this country-not to protect us
from foreign competition but to protect industries from domestic
competition. The good manager and the good worker have been
subordinated to the incompetent and criminal rascals. This is why you
have an incompetent boss. Socialism breeds incompetence. Behind the
drive for socialism is a de facto goal of financial dictatorship.
'Every socialist is a disguised dictator.' Ludwig von Mises
"The advocates of public control cannot do without inflation. They
need it in order to finance their policy of reckless spending and of
lavishly subsidizing and bribing the voters. Inflation is the fiscal
complement of statism and arbitrary government. It is a cog in the
complex of policies and institutions which gradually lead toward
totalitarianism. Inflationism, however, is not an isolated phenomenon.
It is only one piece in the total framework of politico-economic and
socio-philosophical ideas of our time. Just as the sound money policy
of gold standard advocates went hand in hand with liberalism, free
trade, capitalism and peace, so is inflationism part and parcel of
imperialism, militarism, protectionism, statism and socialism." Ludwig
von Mises
