Looking for someone who understands Solunar Theory
Yes, I had read that. Now rereading it I guess you consider Moon Up
and Moon Down as the Major Periods and the halfway points between them as the minor periods. Is that the way you interpret it? By the way, do you believe that following these charts helps? My only experience was about 2 years ago I was fishing at sundown when the moon was full and rising. In 30 minutes, 20 casts and 20 fish. I was fishing in a large pool under a spillway on a creek in Arkansas. About 8 smallmouth bass, about 5-6 shadow bass and the rest brem. I have never seen anything like it. I usually don't pay much attention to it. Indirectly, I guess you can say I
follow the tides. Just about all my fishing is in sal****er and affected by tide movement. I find that I catch more fish between one hour before and one hour after a tide peak. I like a falling tide better then a rising one due to areas I fish. If I look at the tide charts and the solunar charts they best fishing times are pretty close to the same. There is an old saying by that the best fishing is when the moon is overhead or under your feet. Best trip was 25 specks, 5 reds , and 1 black drum in 1.5 hours. Burned 52 gallons of fuel in the boat and 15 gallons in my truck pulling the boat. Left home at 4 AM and returned home 11 AM. The drive was 1.5 hours each way. My wife was shocked to see me home so early because normally I don't return home until 4 or 5 PM. All were caught using artificial lures on a falling tide. Fished a shallow dead end canal in a hole and every cast was a fish. Was throwing back fish to try and catch another species. The canal was shaped like an thermometer. In the bulb end was a well head with a hole dug behind the well. The canal was no longer then 200 yards and three foot deep average with the deepest spot being the hole which is about 6 foot. The hole is only about 15 foot in diameter. I could not use my outboard to exit the canal since there canal was loaded with at least 150 other boats. Every boat on the canal was catching redfish. As one boat would move out the hole another would move in to take its place by the hole so they could try and catch some specks instead of just reds. Sarge |
