Suit Filed to End All Hunting, Fishing and Trapping
"dvito" wrote in message ... Well I guess this means more people are moving to the Poconos!! You know that place, where you can walk into any WAL MART and buy a fishing/hunting license and recieve it immediately. You don't even have to **** in a cup or give them finger prints. ***This is the way that it should be. But there's movements all around the country to change that. Let's face it, the outdoor way of life is under attack from groups that believe their way of living is superior and is the way EVERYONE should live. So unless you want to take up bowling or golf, you need to take these attacks seriously. If you think that this case is gonna hold any water your insane, the NJ govt. gets way too much money from license sales to limit or even delay the purchase because some asswipe (is that a word?) has a hardon for the distruction of our constitutional rights. ***The people of Wisconsin thought there was no way that the Federal Court System was going to uphold the old Indian Treaties dating back to the mid 1800's either. These treaties entitled the local Native American population to hunt and fish for sustenance. We now have a reduced bag limit and size limits on walleyes here in the northern third of the state because a Federal Judge in Chicago decided that the Native Americans have a greater need for the fish than sportsmen do. So, every spring during the walleye spawning season, they crank up their floodlights, launch their boats and proceed to take over 25,000 spawning walleyes! This is done during a time period when the fishing season is normally closed to sportfishing. We were told that the gamefish season was closed to protect the spawning fish. Now, the state tells us that this spearfishing take is not damaging the fishery, yet we still cannot fish for anything but perch and bluegills in most waters from mid-March to the first Saturday in May. And, we're allowed to take 3 walleyes (one over 14", two under) when we used to be able to take five over 15". You think this had an impact on license sales? I know it did and I also know that many resorts and baitshops went belly up because the fishermen were going someplace else. Don't think that your state can be affected? Wisconsin sold more fishing licenses than every other state than Florida, yet it happened here. Once an ANTI group gets the ear of a federal judge, anything can happen. I'd be watching this very closely and voicing opposition as much as possible. First I would like to see the pile of cases that they have, pending and old, where the convicted felon killed his fishing partner with a jig and pig. I almost took Randy's head off with a buzz bait but I have never been convicted of anything more than telling fish lies. ***Rational thought has no bearing on what a federal judge orders. Believe me on that. Witness the spring spearing for "sustenance", when the casinos are pulling in millions weekly! It is up to the federal govt. to keep weapon sales limited to the good, law abiding people of this country, then if a convicted felon wants to throw his hard earned cash away on a hunting license then so be it. Thats just a few more trash can liners that we don't have to pay for. ***Not wanting to sound paranoid or like some conspiracy theory wacko, but I don't trust the federal government to do much of anything sensible. It seems like anytime a group doesn't get the decision they want, they keep trying until they find a judge that thinks like they do. And don't think that personal feelings and opinions don't enter into a judge's decision. In this day of "political correctitude", how many judges (especially elected ones) are going to admit that they hunt or fish? Not many if they want to get re-elected. Anyway, It's snowing here and it sucks. I want to fish in a T-shirt. ***You and me both. -- Steve OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |

govt. gets way too much money from license sales to limit or even delay the purchase You must not be paying attention to what judges are doing to our "rights" in the US right now. All it takes is a couple of flakey liberal judges and it will be required! The elected government can't do anything about it, and the people surely can't. That is why the dimocrats in the senate are trying so hard to block conservative judges - they know judges control the US now. Ronnie http://fishing.about.com |

If something like this happens in the most densely populated state in the US, how long do you think it will take for "the Anti's" to target the other 49? Chances are that a good chunk of YOUR state's Wallop-Bureau funds would end up paying for the resources needed to do investigative background checks on people applying for fishing/hunting/trapping licenses where YOU live. If there is one thing that the activists have going in their favor, it is the fact that many (if not most) outdoorsmen have a very disimpassioned stance unless something is going to affect them directly (hence MY passionate outburst). /RantMode I hope nothing ever comes of this. *sigh* Harry J aka Thundercat I agree 100% Harry!!! So it is no more fishing and you have to take up bowling, golf or bochi ball.
Do those sports have newsgroups..rotflmao?. Seriously i wouldn't normally say **** if my mouth was full of it. If it was happening here i would sure as hell would say **** and a lot more too. I don't hunt but anti types shut down the spring bear hunt here....so anything can happen. I also notice there is a lot more bears around here too...like 20 yards away from my fishing camp...torn up and overturned logs. They don't like you to shoot a problem bear,,your suppose to hire someone to relocate it. If you do shoot it...report it or the CO's will be after you as sure as ****. |

Ok so who are these felons that were issued a license. unpaid traffic
tickets, unpaid taxes, disoderly conduct? If they want to ensure that this does not happen make it a requirment that you get a stamp of some sort from the local law enforcement office. Chances are that the guy who is running from the law or convicted for murder or child molestation will not want to go and get the stamp. J.M.T.C "Gone Angling" wrote in message ... If they want to ensure that this
does not happen make it a requirment that you get a stamp of some sort from the local law enforcement office. I disagree - that is like the silly background check for buying a gun. NO way millions of fishermen should have to do that just so a few felons can be stopped from buying a license. And even if you stop them from buying a license, what is to keep them from hunting or fishing without one. That is not the goals of the group supporting this anyway. They just want to do anything they can to make it harder to hunt or fish. Ronnie http://fishing.about.com |

James, as Editor of Outdooors magazine, can you follow up to the group
on the facts of this suit? Perhaps a docket number or an on-line link. Perhaps the date the suit was filed and a possible date for court hearings? Is there an opportunity for any friend of the court briefs (sorry I don't know the law in NJ). We have a few lawyers who lurk here......but now that the knee-jerk-and-oh-my-god-how-dare-they emotions are out of the way, what are the facts here?
