m... Just be careful when you buy your airplane ticket. :-) I remember a few years ago someone arrived in San Jose, California and he thought he was flying to San Jose, Costa Rica. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. I once received a ticket to Amman, Jordan when I was supposed to go to Muscat, Oman. Bob |

Nobody said they were sorry they had gone there, but they all said they were glad to not be there anymore. g Also, from what I have heard, it isn't very easy for westerners to travel around China without an escort. I know we always had one the short time I was there, but I we didn't try to go around without them so I'm not sure if they were officially required or not. You should check into what travel restrictions may exist. -- Charlie... Haven't been there, but been close . . . Actually, I think the general rap on Shanghai is that it's a tough, mercantilist city. Everybody is looking for a way to make a few bucks. Western morality, ethics, and legality are subordinated to that objective. That can be rather interesting. But tiresome. But it's good to spend some time in China. It's got to be a big part of the future. And for people with initiative and adventure, there have to be some interesting fishing opportunities in the mountains out west. Bob |

Been there, was escorted out, won't be going back ;) Hint, leave the papers in somewhere else, just not Singapore. I think Prosek wrote something about it one of his books about fishing in China. |

Kudos to Charlie Choc for noticing the hugest faux-pas of my entire international teaching career!! I guess living amongst two 'Congos' has my brain scrambled... The potential job I am looking at is in SHANGHAI, not Singapore. I know that they are not the same place, or even near each other. Other than the leading S, I have no idea why my mind map gets the two confused, but I now have to go back and redo my entire online search, as I cannot swear that anything I have learned was about SHANGHAI rather than Singapore. So let me re-ask: have any roffians been to SHANGHAI lately, what's it like, are there any fishing opportunities there, and what else can you tell me about it. Thanks --riverman Hey Myron, Have a look over he http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/ More information than you want to know :-). -- Cheers, Herman |
