putty weight?

I was wondering if anyone uses putty weight?
Was thinking of going with split shots, but someone mentioned that I may
want to try putty weight.
Says he's never used it before, thought I better ask someone first before

I
purchase.

It is not all that good, too many disadvantages. Split shot is easier, and
more convenient.

If you are going to be using weight a lot, then get some thin soldering
wire. Take several lengths, and weigh them accurately. Wrap the weighed
lengths around some thin cord or whatever, and if required add a small
swivel to one end. Glue this length with aquaseal. These weights can be
changed at will. They will not slip if looped onto the leader, and they
will not kink the line etc.

Almost useless.

Almost useless, but I have successfully used putty to "glue" beads to
beadless buggers streamside. Watch out for line abrasion, though.
