Ontario (Canada) Fishing Location Service & Consumption Advice

Ontario (Canada) Fishing Location Service & Consumption Advice I host a service that lets you find over 1,700 places to fish within the borders of Ontario Canada. Information includes size of catches expected as well as consumption advice. You can access this service via http://69.194.236.224:28080 For more information you may refer to the instructions below, or just send me an email at publicgis_d AT rogers DOT com. Thankyou Kevin Whoa- I clicked on the Kenora icon to see what "advice" one would get. Better tell the chamber of commerce you advise against eating walleye more than twice a month if they're of any size - it might change the restaurant offerings in town. -- reverse domain to reply |
Ontario (Canada) Fishing Location Service & Consumption Advice
For what it's worth, the consumption advice offered by my web site is issued
by the Ontario Government Ministry of Natural Resources every two years. They provide the data only in book form; my site offers it as an interactive web site. The Govt said they were going to create a web site too, but after 1 1/2 years, nothing yet. They know about my service, but don't want to use it as theirs. If they did, they could update the data as it becomes available. A big chunk of our tax dollars goes into the compilation of the consumption advice; it's too bad they can't spend a bit more to create a proper web site for it. ps. You don't have to click on any particular placename on the map -- you can click anywhere, and it will detect the location. Whoa- I clicked on the Kenora icon to see what "advice" one would get. While Brook, Brown, and Rainbow are listed (I can't recall if Steelhead are), the only trout shown are Lakes trout. Cyli r.bc: vixen. Minnow goddess. Speaker to squirrels. Often taunted by trout. http://www.visi.com/~cyli email: lid (strip the .invalid to email) |
