Depends whether or not you need prescription shades or not. If not,

Coasta
Del Mar, Ray Ban, Oakley and others make very good polarized shades.

If you do, then price becomes an issues and you can look at your local

Lens
Crafters store. I got some Ray Ban polarized shades there a month or so

ago
and they weren't "that" badly priced. I think they came out to be a

scosh
over $240 and are prescription, mirrored and polarized. Work great.

Prior to that I wore Oakleys, but their prescription offerings are few

(with
polarization) and quite expensive for *just* the frames, not factoring

in
the lenses.

My only basic advice would be to go with a reputable brand since the
likelihood of getting well shaped lenses with no or very little

distortion
is greater. The $10 polarized shades at Wal Mart cost that little for a
reason...polarized, sure, but their optical clarity and distortion

leaves
a
lot to be desired.

I will not buy Ray Bans anymore. After having 2 sets of the Aviators,

that
I use to love break at the temple piece and finding out the short

warrantee,
and the hoops that had be gone through. No more. I like Costa Del Mars

and
www.1800lens.com had the best price. Lost my last set, and got some

Bolles
on sale at the local Big 5 store. Nice glasses. Were on sale for $40,

from
$80. Actually have bought 2 pairs this way. Left a set at Mom's and just
bought another pair till I got back to her. Is about 35 miles 1 way. And
need sunglasses.

I understand that with that type of Ray Bans, but the ones I have are all
composite, more modern looking frames. I've dropped them, stepped on them,
even dropped them in the drink a few times and they've held up great for me.

I've tried the Bolles and they're ok, but had too much edge distortion for
me and my aging eyesight.

I've also found that when you drop in
excess of $100 for a pair of sunglasses, you have a tendency to take

better
care of them too.

I agree Steve. And you tend not to lose them either. I have the very first
pair of Oakleys I ever bought way back when, some sleek looking 1988 Razor
Blades. Like you said, you put $100+ into shades, you will be a lot more apt
to look after them better. And like everything else tends to be, you get
what you pay for.

Maui Jim - had them for 4 years and am very satisfied.
If I remember correctly they were not cheap, about $130.

I saw Bill Dance selling some sunglasses a while back for ten bucks. Can't
recall the brand name though. He was impressed with them or so he said.
Does anyone know the brand?
