You have raised the standards for trip reports to a new high. Have you
considered publishing this as a magazine artical? I think you could do at
least two from this report. I don't know if it pays anything but you
might get some free stuff from a manufacturer.
BTW -where did you get the tent?

well, yeah, that was ok, and everything; but where the hell were the

There in Topless College Cheerleaders, vol. 53
I hear the pre-release director's cut is awesome!

Dave I am surprised that you would use 2x tippet, but apparently
Dave these fish aren't the least bit tippet shy.

Probably not (I don't remember if I tried 4x at any point). The fish
spend the summer in the sea feeding frantically, and return back in
August. I guess they're still pretty hungry. :-)

This is my only question in this TR: how on earth is a fisherman
supposed to net a bigger fish in such a situation? I mean, with any
current at all - and there was a current here - even if the fish
had been *dead* it would still have provided a considerable
resistance.

rw After the fish is played out (meaning it won't make another run),
rw get downstream from it and wait for it to drift to you. Then,\
rw either tail it or net it. Doesn't that sound easy? :-)

A good point, and probably solves the problem in 90% of the
cases. However, that approach would not have been possible in this
case. The location where I was standing was just below the rock:

http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/hurri/fi...-2004/spot.jpg

So I've got the rock upstream, and a shallow spot downstream, and the
bottom is such that wading was out of the question. I found that the
only option was to bring the fish to the shore through the small
channel below the rock, that is, against the current.

I guess you mean the tent on the right in this pictu

http://www.perhokalastajat.org/tour_...s/p1000170.jpg

(The tent on the left is a Hilleberg, the one in the middle was just a
shelter for all our stuff.) My friend bought that last year. He likes
it because it's very roomy; in particular, you can stand
inside. Personally I don't like the fact that the tent has no
bottom. If you're interested, I can find out the dealer and the price
for you.
