Digital Camera Recommendation?

Santa brought me a Wal-Mart gift certificate and I am interested in a
digital camera to take on fishing expeditions in the unlikely event that
Bugcaster actually catches a fish so I can record his one-in-a-lifetime
achievement. G

I subscribe to Consumer Reports and they evaluated digital cameras,
recently, and picked the Nikon Coolpix 2200 as a best buy in the 2 megapixel
range. First of all is 2 megapixels okay for your normal fly fishing
pictorial chronicle and has anyone had experience with this camera, or would
recommend something else?

Chris, who appreciates your input!

What ever you get, I'd make sure that it will take pis up close of flyz, as you will
inevitably want to take pics of your perfect ties and post them to the web.

I have an HP Photosmart 318 and it is useless for takin' close up pics of flyz!

DPReview might well be the best product review site, period.

Another decent one is http://www.steves-digicams.com

Frank shared that he was able to get the Nikon Coolpix 2200 online for a
measly 99 bucks...snipped in order to find out about the DEAL
----------
Frank, thanks for the info and to all of you for your help. Where did you
get the camera for $99 and what is an Aquapac? For $99 I will use my
Wal-Mart gift card for something else cuz they want $140 for theirs.

....officedepot.com Chris, and if your local OD has it in stock you can pick
it up there, just tell them it's on sale online. The Aquapac is a neat
waterproof bag to put your camera in, you can shoot right thru the bag and
still get acceptables pictures. Go to: www.waterproofcases.net and check it
out. Good luck.

2 megapixels is fine for everyday use. If you can find a 2MP Canon
Digital ELPH, it's IMHO the best camera for fishing expeditions.
Santa bought me a waterproof case for my ELPH and even with the case
the camera is still smaller than the vast majority of other cameras.

I have that camera with waterproof case and it is a great camera to take on
the water.

Is that the camera you had, when you camped on Upper?
