I've been using the same blade for over 5 years now. And with my Benchmade,
I have field dressed wild turkeys, deer, black bear, skinned and quartered
two caribou. Plus, I can open cardboard boxes and pick my teeth with the
same tool, can you do that with your kiddy scissors? :-)

Get ready for this....for $1.00 at the local buck or two store......10 "milk
bag cutters".......you gotta love it! And you will!! A little razor blade
in a plastic handle. Put one at each corner of your boat, in a pocket and
you will still have some left over, they even go through the wash pretty
good too! You can even laugh when you see it go overboard to the bottom!

Sounds like one of those old Herter's knives, you could skin a elephant

Any ol' pocket knife will do. as long as it has a half decent edge, it
will cut.

The braid really isnt that difficult to cut. The fish dont seem to care
what I use.

I never tried., but they can make paper snowflakes real nice and they have a
green handle :-)

Scissors. I have a couple pair on-board at any given time. A heavier duty
version of some Fiskar's yard/shop scissors, and a Gerber brand 2.5-3"
folding blade that has a set of scissors built-in. Or you can use a razor
sharp knife or single edged razor-type of knife (one of these folding knife
like box cutters that are hanging all over the home improvement warehouse
stores). But usually, I just go for a set of scissors.

IMO, regular clippers just literally won't cut it anymore. When I have tried
them, I ended up with more fray than anything on braids.

The only way to use scissors with a braided line is to run the line
along the blade, rather than closing the scissors in a traditional
fashion. It's difficult enough to tie knots in these ever decreasing
line sizes and blurring split rings, let alone the fumbling with them
tiny Fiskar finger holes :) And a blades width is the perfect tag
length, in my worthless opinion.

LOL! I wouldn't call any opinion wothless, since most are freely offered.

Dunno why it is that scissors work so well for me, but they do. A regular
snipping action with either pair of mine work just fine. The ones built-into
the knife are "lever action" and don't even have finger holes. The other set
is regular sized, and my fingers fit ok. Oh, and I do sharpen them fairly
often just as I do my knife blades.
