OK, since I'm a relative newbie at FF, I'll include all types of
conventional fishing.

Florida
Michigan
Delaware
Maryland
New Jersey
New York
Pennsylvania
West Virginia
Connecticut
Maine
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
Rhode Island
Vermont
Idaho
Oregon
Washington
California
Texas
Arizona
Colorado
New Mexico
Utah
Minnesota

Of course, many of those are of the 'lets sit around and drown worms'
as a kid, variety. In fact, almost all of them are of this type.

I've also fished Quebec, NWT, and Yukon Provinces.

And internationally: Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Norway,
Sweden, France, Germany, Slovenia, England, Wales, South Africa,
Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mauritius, Lesotho, Swaziland, Hong Kong, Thailand,
Mexico, DRC, Congo. And almost all of those were FF.

Wow, you;d think I'd have caught more fish by now. You didn't ask how
many countries have we actually caught fish in. That list would be
demonstrably shorter....

Hello All,

This weekend I made a fishing trip to Ohio, where I was guided by my good
buddy Tim. Got only a few fish, but it added to my list of states where I
have caught fish. I am curious to know how many states other roffians
have on thier resumes. For myself I have caught fish in:

Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York,
Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Alaska

And in Canada:

Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

How many states have you all fished in?

I've caught fish in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina,
Montana, Wyoming (assuming Yellowstone is included therein) and
Colorado.....by virtue of a single fat brookie pulled from Parika lake
(elev. ~11,400 ft., if memory serves).

Florida.....if spearfishing counts.

Near miss in Georgia/South Carolina on an abortive rafting trip on the
Chatooga river. I fished.....briefly.....and caught nothing.

I've seen others fish in a little visited spot......about a thousand miles
east of Bermuda......but never participated myself.

Wolfgang
who once had a lovely grilled salmon at The Old Fish Market in London,
Ontario but, as it was brought to his table already cooked, can hardly claim
to have caught it. :)

Pete,
What will you know after you survey all of ROFF?

May things. I wonder if easterners go west, or if few westerners bother
coming east. I wonder if folks who live in real shangri-la areas bother
travelling from home at all. I wonder what the average number of states
a guy will visit to fish. Curious stuff, you know.

With all that travelling, who has time to make a living?? g

I teach in the International Schools, and have been out of the states
for over a decade now. But back in my misspent youth, I spent a lot of
time escaping myself. However, I re-read your post, and you DID
specifically ask which states (etc) have we actually caught fish in.
That list is considerably shorter, and if we add the criterion that it
must have been flyfishing, its down to:

Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, South Africa, Mauritius,
DRC.....umm....that may be it.

Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri,
Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Idaho,
Wyoming, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico. So 15 states plus
Ontario, Canada.

I guess the next state on my list is Maine. Louie says
there's supposed to be some sort of tailwater up there
that holds brook trout. ;-)

Ken:
I'm going to be in the Great State of Maine (GSOM) for this entire
summer. If you do get that way, keep in touch. I'll have a canoe, full
camping gear, all my rods, and plenty of time. I know the backwater
rivers there very well, and plan on working them over but good.
