Barkley sounds like a winner, some weekend this summer.
Yall might be able to help me - the Southern Regional is at Paducah on
the river below Barkley - can't lock thru to the lakes, but can fish all
the rivers that connect and even down to the Miss. Ever fish the river
there? Ronnie

That run to the Mississippi from the Cumberland river is way too long
Ronnie. But there are some really good river spots on the
Cumberland...you will spot them quick with your knowledge of bass
fishing. I have only fished the Cumberland river below the Barkley dam a
couple times...but have some friends that fish it pretty regular. If any
of them have been out lately, I'll let ya know what they experienced.
Come prepared to go after some small mouth also....Barkley and the
Cumberland are s/m friendly :). Hope I can come up with some more info
that will help out.

I love smallmouth and spots! Thanks for the help. Looks like I can run from
Padacah to the Barkley dam without locking thru anywhere, but to get into
Smithland Pool have to go thru a lock, and to go downriver much have to go thru
a lock. I really would like to avoid locks of possible, that is why I was
looking at the Cumberland. Can fish the Tennessee River up to KY lake dam, too,
but I understand it is real built up and lots of barge traffic?.
