Hey, Wolfy, what are the colors (wing and body) and size on the caddis
up there?

Scratch that, just saw your other post.

...anyone located the closest fly shop to the marquette airport?

What passed for a flyshop is in a strip shopping center on the highway
coming into town on the west side.

Will do. Oh, Sep 15th is the first day of ruffled grouse season (the
call the "parkers"). I think I'll take the other bits of yellow, or
international orange, and wear it. Maybe I'll get my daughter's
Syracuse fleece.

Just stay where I can see you g

uh oh... cheneyphobia added to grabber/biter/eaters and fear of flying...

For someone with a greatfear of flyin', you sure travel a lot above terra
firma!

Well, I guess I should say a word or two about size. In the early
days, I used to tie caddis on everything from 22s to 4s. Over the
years, and quite without any conscious plan, I slowly wittled the
selection down. These days I rarely use anything but 14s. Bodies are
sparsely dubbed, and a I use very fine copper wire, counter-wound to
protect the hackle. This has made them much more durable without
significantly affecting their bouyancy.

Flying is nothing to worry about. It's the parts where you're close to
the ground that.......well, you know. :)

One fundamental rule known by all pilots is: Fly in the middle of the
air. Stay away from the edges. They cause trouble.

Something that most of us intuit at one level or another, I
guess......but sound advice that needs to be stated explicilty from
time to time.

How ironic though, that so many of us take to the air so readily these
days to rush off to what's left of the edges.

who will be traveling at a somewhat more lesiurely pace come thursday

I've got a bunch of Tom Littleton's Coyote Uglies.

Tell me about it. I spent the better part of a day back in April with
him and Mak.......um.....oh.......you mean flies, huh? :)

fecker!

by way of hijacking this thread, I spent a pleasant evening
sitting in the rain with Mr. and Mrs Makela last night
(along with my beloved spouse) watching James Taylor
do his thing. Weather quite similar to our outing in the spring, Wolfie,
except JT sings better than Mike and I fish.

Well, at least gas prices have dropped. We're spending 2.46 here (10%
ethanol). A 50 cent drop in prices in less than 6 weeks is really nice
(but don't get used to it).

Will tie some. 14? Damn, most of mine are 16-18. Except for the
October Orange Caddis thats a 6X long #2. Hmm, looking in my box, I've
only got two dozen of those left. I've been slacking off on my tying.

so, it'll be, what, only 3.30 or so in the yoop? it's 2.69
hereabouts...paid 3.02 just 10 days ago. market economies are very,
very strange when it comes to gas prices around here.
