Yo Mike... On Monday the 18th I'll know the future of Penns Creek
Angler. Check the website on Tuesday and you'll see a very sad or very
happy announcement.......

Recently, Bruce showed me some of the flies tied by the tall one.
Exceptional quality flies, beyond what you might expect to see in a fly
shop. As for other offerings at Penns Creek Angler, I've used some
of the fly rod blanks that Penns Creek Angler has chosen for his fly
rod offerings and they are very well accepted by the rod building
community.

Well guys the fishing was ok, I only got one nice fish in the 20 inch
class and all the rest were all small 11-16 inches. The the water was
cold @ 38 degrees in the afternoon. My hands were freezing after the
first fish each day. The GREAT news is the loan was approved!
Construction starts in the middle of Jan and the whole project will be
finished by March 15 (store and apartments). Its not going to be the
greatest shop the first year but I'll have lodging for large groups.
The shop will be stocked with enough stuff to make your trip a good
one. Check the web page for more info or with Tom L.
Ps: Tom is doing 60 dz flies for the shop so here is your chance to get
as many flies as you want made by the master.

Mike When, What, Where?

This is a _very_ long shot, I know: I will be fishing for Atlantic
salmon (and maybe grayling) in the northernmost part of Finland right
after midsummer (25.6.-), and could arrange a mini-clave if someone
is interested.

I invited our Swedish friends (Roger et al.) to join, but they had
already booked another fishing engagement at the same time.

Here are a few photos of the fishing spot next to my camp - as you can
see, a two-handed rod helps (I can teach two-handed casting if
necessary):

That's an interesting boat!
Sort of canoe/dory hybrid, that can handle moving
water and a motor.

Is there a name for that boat? How can I find out
how to build one?

In Sweden they were/are simply called river boats. The shape makes it
easier travelling the rivers. They were quite common during the days of
timber flotation.
My Grandfather had one, and I have on numerous occasions had the
pleasure of riding both up and downstream River Byske. Easy to maneuver
and not to wide, the latter meaning that they will cut through the
current very well. All in all it is a very good soultion to travel up
and down rivers, unless a canoe is sufficient for one's needs.
