What spinnerbaits for So. Cal. Bass?
John Kerr wrote: What spinnerbaits for So. Cal. Bass? Not big enough. The trout baits they throw there are a foot long and weigh 1/2 to 3/4 pound. -- Thanks Bob La Londe ======= And they cost ALOT of money :)! John Joe, I have put a word in with some one who used to fish the area and who is in contact with those who know these areas well. Hopefully, they can give some good insight! -Justin |

"Bob La Londe" wrote in message .. . "Joe Haubenreich" wrote in message . .. I would appreciate advice from Bob La Londe, John Kerr, Calif Bill, or any others who are knowledgeable about fishing spinnerbaits for bass in Southern California reservoirs. Get ahold of John Kerr or Calif Bill. I have fallen back on three blades for almost all my applications on the river. 1/4oz willow white w/blue skirt in clear water. 1/2oz White on white almost everywhere else. 1/2oz Midnight Snack early in the morning or late in the evening. Occassionally I'll throw white and chartreuse in 1/2 oz with white and chart blades. In muddy water I just swap a single big colorado blade onto any of the above that don't already have one. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com Don't ask me. I am a terrible spinnerbait fisherman. I still trhow them at times as others catch lots of fish in the Sac Delta with them, but not me. Rare is it I catch a fish on a spinnerbait. May book Bobby Barrack for a training day. |

Cal. lakes is 1/2 oz white and chartreuse with silver willow blades. Or lighter when throwing over shallow grass, heavier when "bumpng" the bottom. The lakes are pretty clear for the most part...fast retrieves seem to produce the best. Like California Bill, I don't fish spinners very often, but the kid does, and I talked to him about em. I did catch a nice one on a Secret Weapon I got from Joe at the Classic at Brakley this year though :). JK |

OK, Joe. Sorry it took a couple of days but, here is what I've been
told. Right now clown colored spinnerbaits ( clear gold skirt/some silver/strands of Red), a couple folks looked at the site and they picked the "Blue Herring" overwhelmingly! They also recommended the "Blue Herring" for most applications where the water is clear and sunny. For cloudy days they liked the "Tennessee Shad" and stained water go with the "Golden Shad". The "Midnight Snack" for night fishing during summer months and "Rock Craw" for spring time applications. -Justin www.SecretWeaponLures.com |
