What is considered a "trickle charger"?

Are you dead set on getting a charger? If you are not, then do yourself a big favor and go online to: www.stayncharge.com. This device keeps your boat batteries charged while you drive to & from your destination. Doesn't help much when half the places I fish are within 10 minutes of home. Even when I go to champlain, I've got a ramp within 5 minutes of the motel. Charging while I drive would just screw up the routine and help get me out of the habit of plugging the onboard charger in before I even unhook the boat, and lead me to the inevitable failure to plug it in when I really should have. |

Many times this year I fish a large pond with my boat that is only about 5 min. away from me or less. Outboards are prohibited; consequently, all I use is the electric MK on the transom. The battery indicator usually tells me I'm down to about 1/2 charge by the end of a days fishing there. After hooking up the "StayN'Charge" and pulling the boat around the block, the indicator now reads full charge. Been doing this for 2 seasons now with no problems. Of course, you DO have to remember to plug it back in when you pull off the water! Then again, don't you have to plug something else in when you get home? |

I'm sorry, but if you're putting a full charge into a half exhausted deep cycle trolling motor battery in 5 minutes, you're doing it serious harm. |

But I could be wrong...how long do your batteries last? I'll let know how mine are doing in a couple of years ;) |
