We gonna be smiling in the Smoky's soon?

Yep. Some of the details concerning who is going to meet whom exactly where
and when still need to be tweaked, but I am out'a here on the evening of the
16th. Going to hook up with Chuck on the Tennessee side for a day or two
and then find Jeff and fish the North Carolina side. Last I heard, John was
planning to participate in both of those soirees.

You?

O.k., I'll have my people call your people and they can call John's
peop......um......**** it.

Why don't you just join me and Joel this weekend and we'll talk it over
then? :)

Indeed. It's nice to read about someone who's actually getting some
fishing in.

Thanks. What was the Emerson Lake and Palmer song you
thought of?

My guess is "Lucky Man". :-)

Hmmm ... I'll be on the TN side around that time, too. I should be
arriving on the 13th, and I have reservations at Elkmont starting on the
15th (the first day they allow reservations for the season).

Maybe we should try to hook up during that time (at the very least,
when Wolfgang arrives).

Once we figure out exactly where and when to meet, I'm more than content to
leave the rest of the itinerary in your capable hands. I talked to John a
few minutes ago; he won't be joining us this time.

McDonald's in Robbinsville works fine for me. My only problem now is
determining when. I believe Chuck said he's pulling out Saturday morning,
by which time we'll have had the opportunity to fish together for at least a
day, along with Wayne if we can all hook up. Not being intimately familiar
with the area and, more specifically, with the route from Elkmont to
Robbinsville, my basic problem is that I don't know whether it would be
wiser for me to head down Friday evening or wait till early Saturday
morning. I welcome any advice or suggestions.

I'll be in the area through Monday night. Some time on Tuesday, I've got to
head north to fulfill other obligations.

bummer about john and his wheeled condo... i think john has developed a
shunning polarity with carolina. oh well, should have the thermarest
broken in by then.g

anyway...

i think elkmont is probably 2-2.5 hours from robbinsville...not sure.
you traverse near gatlinburg...beware. but, i've never been to elkmont
so have no real idea about travel time through the park (nice drive as i
recall). i think i'll be about 4 hours from robbinsville when i start
off early saturday. so... how about we plan on meeting at 11 am at the
mcdonalds. if weather is good, we'll then head to slickrock or snowbird
and set up camp. fish sat. evening, sunday and monday. slickrock will be
a new adventure for you, so i'd like you to see it...but i've heard it
is infested with snakes when warm weather arrives, and i hate snakes.
will you have all the necessary overnight camping stuff? (esp. water
purifier & stove) if the weather is bad, i'll spring for a room at one
of the local joints and we'll figure something. i have to leave on
tuesday also, so it all seems in sync...

Ptui! Wee spit on steenking snakes! Wee will crush their pitiful slithery
skulls like so much crunchy caramel corn!
