Uniform protest - Veterans' Day
"vincent p. norris" wrote in message ... Veterans' Day rolls around. Hope some of you can still fit into your old uniforms, if you'd like to. It's been 49 1/2 years since I got out of the marine corps, but I can still get into my uniform! Fits perfectly! Well, not the *whole* uniform. Just the cap and the socks. That's my kinda uniform! Well, not on you, Vince, though we've never met. I meant on me. As anyone who's met me can attest, I am one svelte specimen of masculinity. -- TL, Tim http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

Op --ashes to ashes-- Indian Joe offers-----with fond memories of impressed women,I tried to wear my old pinks and green paratrooper uniform yesterday.---the cloth must have shrunk a little hanging in the attic and I could not find that Korean kid who used to keep my boots spit shined. |

Hey, him and those socks spent many a lonely evening together back during
the war...... No, I wasn't in no war, nohow. I was in during a "police action." But never got closer to Korea than El Toro Marine Air Station. And that's no bull! The Commandant of the Marine Corps didn't think the situation was so desperate that he needed to send the likes of me over there. vince |

Well gentlemen (and i use that term very loosely in this crowd ) I weight 152 lbs when i got out of the army i'm thinking my belly weights that much now...... my tie doesn't even fit anymore LOL. Gotta remember that tie line. :-) Never had the pleasure of losing weight at boot camp, but about the time you guys were running off the pounds, I was laid up with some stupid medical problems (back when I was 18). Apparently in those days, doctors couldn't get enough nutrients into IVs without them crystallizing, so when patients were on an IV diet for extended time (like a month), they lost tremendous muscle mass. I came out of the hospital weighing 118 lbs. For reference, nowadays I'm the same height (6ft 4), 220 pounds, and technically 'borderline overweight'. Back when I came out of hospital, you could see my wisdom teeth through my cheeks. I had a shirt that I wore back then that looks like a sock to me now. Personally, I much prefer my body shape nowadays. :-) --riverman |
