Sorry for breaking roff protocol, but I've been out of the country
for a bit, mineisntyours. Tell me what's happening in Fargo, and how
Obama has dropped the ball? Has the river flooded town while FEMA
watched from the sidelines? Are people stranded on their rooftops?
Are there thousands stuck in some sports stadium without supplies,
etc? Did Obama failed to take any precautionary measures until after
this disaster struck, and then stayed away for several days
afterwards? When did the flood wipe out Fargo?

Thanks in advance...

What a ****ing imbecile you are. You must be on a different planet.
Why don't you go ****ing look it up on any news service web site or
are you just another illiterate getting on a newsgroup from the local
public library.

We have been. There's been some flooding, and about 1,500 people have
evacuated to local high schools and the like where they are safe and
warm.

Get a clue and catch up with history. The screw-up in the White House
is ignoring the flood, his czaress of Homeland Security is sleeping on
the job. Bush went in after Katrina and pulled out 30,000 within
hours after the hurricane passed. Obama is letting the town wash
away.

The Feds took five days to show up in NOLA after Katrina. FEMA and the
National Guard and even the Army are already there, ready to lend any
assistance needed. Worst case scenario is that it will be about one
tenth what Katrina was.

You really are desperate, aren't you? So how many of your countrymen
are you hoping to have die so that Obama might suffer political
embarrassment?

FWIW, if you don't realize it, you (and any who respond without trimming
the headers) are cross-posting to a number of unrelated groups. If you
do realize it, um, well...carry on, I guess...

I hadn't noticed, and I'll trim the headers on the next post. This
wouldn't appear to have much to do with fly fishing.

Fargo is drowning. Where's FEMA? Where's the Nat'l Guard? Obamafiddles while Rome burns.

The president called North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad on his cell phone during
a news conference in Bismarck on flooding problems there and in Fargo. "If
there's anything more that we can do, we will do it," Obama said after
Conrad held the phone up to a microphone. "

My daughter was at that news confernce and her stories were used by
the ND congressional delegation to make story boards for a request to
Obama for disaster aid, which they got immediately.
The federal aid has been tremendous, including the use of 400 lbs of
C4 to blow an ice dam in Bismarck, saving further flooding. The
locals thought they would need twice as much, but the fed experience
helped. It has been a well-reasoned and porportionate response, with
a combination of federal/state team management and volunteer work.
Just how these things should work. Where the locals didn't have the
materials the fed did. One of the things the fed responders brought
in was an "instant barrier" that the military uses to make walls and
bunkers. Fill it with sand and it becomes a great way to hold back
flood waters, much quicker than filling sandbags by hand (you can use
skip loaders to install this wall).
So, you ask, where's Obama? Right where he should be. Standing back
and sending the professionals in to do what they're supposed to do.
In the military, we call this type of information "ground truth." Its
when you have eyes on target that can tell you the real story so you
can sort the words of those with an agenda from what is really
happening.

To be fair, our fly-fishing group tends to have a fair share of political
discussion (and well as some pretty good FFing info, too). It's just that these
cross-posted threads tend to get even more out of hand than your, er, "normal"
USENET (single group) "discussions" (and for the terminally-picky, they are
_technically_ a no-no). And generally, when controversial subjects are CPed to
such diverse, unrelated groups, it almost always because the OP is trying to
amuse themselves by starting **** and causing confusion.

IAC, and speaking only for myself, anyone and everyone is welcome to post their
thoughts - especially, um, "well-thought-out thoughts" of whatever leaning -
wherever they wish, but it would be better for all concerned if they did so
knowingly.
