fishing wth Timmaay

... So I called TimJ and we decided to meet up at my 'secret pond'. Did youse guys also take a 'secret lunch break' at the 'secret cabin' too? :-) Seriously, is there any peace and quiet to be had while wading the pond? Is it fishable from shore or do you need a boat? It's a 'secret'. ;-) This is an inside joke, so I'll let you in on it. Tim and I live in Western Mass. There's no such thing as a secret anything around here - too many people. There are almost no inaccessible ponds or streams and all the rivers follow busy roads and are dammed all to hell. Everybody from Massachusetts knows what pond I'm talking about, and has probably fished it and possibly with me. There's even a map and a photo essay on my web page. Tim occasionally posts about his own 'secret spot' that all the Massachusites also know. Like all water in Massachusetts that isn't a protected water supply, the shore is completely blanketed by private cottages, most of which have been converted to year-round houses. There's a 30 foot wide gravel access where you can launch a cartop boat, canoe or similar, and if you're really brave, and it's not too washed out, you might be able to launch a small boat from a trailer. Other than all that, it's a beautiful piece of water, clean and fertile. It gets very little fishing pressure. It's a double kettle pond (a spec pond) that gets 30 feet deep in the middle of the two sections. Mostly a warm water fishery, small bass, big bluegills (for Massachusetts), some white perch and seasonally, some planted rainbows. |
