Trip from Last Week

When you stated you were fishing small PTs, I was envisioning Bruiser size PTs. :) It's interesting how the fish are more tolerant when a fly is sunken. The Mayfly hatch was a small 20 and the few fish I took on top were on 20's and 22's. Started with an 18 but the fish ignored them. Definitely, although I've found, if they're not taking the match-sized dry, going to the other extreme with a dry sometimes brings results. For example, if a #20 Adams "should" be what they're taking but I'm not having success, tying on a #16 or #14 Royal Wulff or another large attractor sometimes brings results. Maybe it just ****es 'em off. :) Also, going with an emergent pattern just under the surface sometimes works. In any case, early Spring has always been a bit more difficult for me to figure out than the rest of the seasons. -- TL, Tim ------------------------ http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
