Yeah the side channel looked nice, but we also got snubbed by someone who
claimed it was the stretch for Slide Inn guests... We moved on and I can
get that kind of treatment on the stocked creeks in the area on open day,
anytime, so I can't say that I agree that it was the best spot, at least
during the Clave week. It reminds me of a similar stretch on the Little
Lehigh Creek near Allentown where there are some nice sized beauties in
there, but it's just not worth fishing most times because of the permanent
resident fisherman (or at least they like to think it's their stretch).

The only other people I ran into that seemed rather rude and discourteous
were in the same area, above Raynolds Bridge. They would creek hop anyone
in their way. I have to thank them really though because due to them, they
chased me far enough upstream to run into that Island where I had such great
luck bank fishing an Island with a family of Browns.

slunked away with his tail between his legs. :-}

The guy looked really proficient, but he didn't catch anything
either. :-)

Hey, we were staying on the south side of the river, two houses
upstream from the bridge. It was not much more than a long cast from
the deck of the place to the river. :-) Unfortunately, it was more
of a sightseeing trip than a fishing trip, so I just got some time in
whenever I could. But even when I was up at daybreak, there would
always be at least one guy already gearing up and ready to hit the
water. And they always went directly to that hole at the top of the
island.

The next best-looking spot was the side-channel by the island.
There looked to be a nice boulder there close to shore that created a
pretty little seam. But I never got to fish that either. :-|

But there *will* be a next time, garonteed. :-)

I made the short, scenic trip from Valley Center, Ca to the campground in
about 18.5 hours, arriving at 12:30 in the morning. The odometer said it
logged 1090 miles in that stretch. Can't understand why I was a little
tired
when Willi came by to go fishing later that morning at 6:30. Must be
getting
old.

Friday, Willi and I fished the Madison across from the campground and then
down at Raynold's Bridge. After having bought some of the green drakes at
Penns last year, I thought that they were the largest dry fly that I would
probably ever use. Wrong! The stoneflies that Willi had tied up to match
the
monsters hatching were the size of small birds.The fish liked them and I
managed to hook up, but not land, several before I lost all of Willi's
flies
to the fish. Meanwhile Willi had.....well, ....you know...pictures on
ABPF.
Friday night Willi, John Godfrey (a friend of mine who finally made it to
a
clave) and I set up an assembly line and tied up a bunch more.


that was an awesome fly. Caught one of my best fish (one of the Bank Fish
Family) on that fly, along with a few other member's of the family.

After that, I can't recall which fishing trip goes with which day
but........


yeah I hope I got it close to right myself, just posted the TR-part 1.

Jeff, John Godfrey, rw, and I went to Indian Creek and had a good day on
some beautiful water.


Missed that one, but I will return,,,

Fished the Yellowstone on opening day with all the ROFFians, 987,

other fly fishermen, and 3 buffaloes. (pics on ABPF)

No ROFFians became inebriated enough on raffle night to have their picture
adorn the "Boobs and Butts" Wall of Shame at the Happy Hour Bar.


In other words, Jeff chickened out...


Charlie Choc managed to get his parts from African Axles "R" Us and join
us. We also got to meet Ms. Choc, a delightful lady.


Nice to meet you Charlie..You were in the business at the right time. I
can't say the same..


The redneck idiot in the campground across from us whipped out his
chainsaw
one afternoon and proceeded to drop a 40 foot tree right in the
campground!


I thought that was exciting...it was the talk of campground, and he managed
not to crush anyone, or anything in his campsite.

Snoop left early with an ailment. (no, not the usual Honky Tonk Fever and
attendant Gringo Butt).


What happened Snoop? Didn't get to fish with you before ya left, hope all
is well.

we can fish together a bit more. I did enjoy the ritual fireside

Let me know if you make it out my way (Philly) or hopefully will see ya at
